Buckner acquires new senior living community in Bedford, TX The independent living community is renamed Lightwell, a Joint Ministry by Buckner and Presbyterian Homes & Services.

Today a new senior living community joined the Buckner family. Parkwood is an independent living community in Bedford, Texas, located between Dallas and Fort Worth.

With this news, we also unveil a new name for the community: Lightwell, a Joint Ministry by Buckner and Presbyterian Homes & Services. Lightwell means place where light shines, a fitting name and description for the community, aptly describing a place of peace and purpose in a thriving and joyful setting.

The acquisition was a joint venture between Buckner Retirement Services and Presbyterian Homes & Services, a faith-based senior living provider headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Though owned jointly, Buckner will exclusively manage the day-to-day operations of the community under a new subsidiary named Signature Buckner Management Group.

The Lightwell community is designed to promote social connection with 147 apartments grouped around interior courtyards, all connected to a central clubhouse via covered breezeways. Residents enjoy a wide breadth of programming and activities, social events and educational opportunities.

“Entering into this joint venture with PHS was a natural fit and a decision rooted in our shared, faith-based values and commitment to serving others. By bringing our teams together, we have a meaningful opportunity to learn from one another and combine our strengths to elevate resident experience,” said Ken Robbins, senior vice president of Buckner Retirement Services.

Amenities at Lightwell include on-site dining services, salon services, a wide variety of social and enrichment activities, and close proximity to medical, dining, and retail services.

This is the first independent living-only community for Buckner and its eighth senior living community in Texas, all of which include independent living as part of a continuum of care.

Both Buckner Retirement Services and Presbyterian Homes & Services are faith-based nonprofit senior living providers with years of experience serving seniors.

“This is an exciting new chapter for the community, and we look forward to serving the residence with excellence. The addition of another vibrant community in a strong market like Dallas-Fort Worth helps build a more sustainable future to continue our mission serving senior adults,” said Robbins.
